ISMST 2023 Organizing Committee welcomes you to experience and enjoy an exotic Korean culture full of unique attractions and wonders. You can make on-line tour reservations, which will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis. All tours include the services of an English-speaking guide and transportation.

Important Notice
  1. If you would like to participate in the tour program, please apply when registering online.
  2. Tour programs are based on the estimated price. It is subject to change due to the local situation.
  3. Tour route and duration are subject to change due to traffic, weather conditions and other circumstances.
  4. Deadline for tour registration is June 16, 2023.
  5. If minimum number of persons is not reached, the program may be cancelled, substituted by another program with notice to participants, or proceed at an altered rate with the consent of all participants.
  6. Some seats may be available after the deadline so please come to the tour desk during the congress.

  • DescriptionGyeongju (Kyongju) is known as “the museum without walls” because of the vast number of cultural properties and archaeological sites of the city. The cultural heritages of Gyeongju are the witnesses of the important role this city has played in the millennium of history in the Silk Roads. The city holds some of the first UNESCO designated heritage sites in the country, including Seokguram Grotto and Bulguksa Temple, both added in 1995. In 2000, the Gyeongju Historic Areas were designated as World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

  • DescriptionThe Temple of Haeinsa, on Mount Gaya, is home to the Tripitaka Koreana , the most complete collection of Buddhist texts, engraved on 80,000 woodblocks between 1237 and 1248. The buildings of Janggyeong Panjeon, which date from the 15th century, were constructed to house the woodblocks, which are also revered as exceptional works of art. As the oldest depository of the Tripitaka , they reveal an astonishing mastery of the invention and implementation of the conservation techniques used to preserve these woodblocks.

  • Description Momyeongjae Korean Traditional Culture Experience Center At Momyeongjae Korean Traditional Culture Experience Center, you can experience hanbok, etiquette, and Korean traditional tea ceremony and food experience. You will have an opportunity to make Samgyetang, or ginseng chicken soup yourself.

    Hyangchon Cultural Center Hyangchon Cultural Center replicated the old looks of Hyangchon-dong, making the cultural space even more special. . You can have a chance to hear the life history of 100 residents who experienced or recalled the history of the center of Daegu. Also, you can see the real historical relics they donated to the Center.

  • Description DTC Textile Museum At DTC Textile Museum, you can find various artworks created with the themes of threads, needles and cocoons. You will have an opportunity to wear Korean traditional clothes, Hanbok, and make your own Korean bracelet.

    Daegu Bangjja Yugi Museum Daegu Bangjja Yugi Museum is Korea's first bronzeware-specialized museum built to preserve the Bangjja Yugi, a traditional cultural property. It also aims to hand down its manufacturing technology to posterity so that the excellence of traditional Korean cultural assets may continue to be presented, and the development of local culture will be promoted. The Museum houses 1,489 items of Yugi in 275 types donated without compensation by Mr. LEE Bong-ju, who made and collected Yugi.

    Donghwasa Temple Donghwasa Temple is a Silla Kingdom temple with a long history, located at the Dohak-dong valley with Pokpo-gol(Faterfall), Bindae-gol and Soosut-gol gathered to both left and right side. Established in 493 AD by Geukdal-hwasang(means Buddhist priest), the name was Yougasa Temple at that time. Later, when Simji-daesa(great priest) rebuild the temple, there were flowers of Korean paulownia bloomed auspiciously, thus renamed to Donghwasa Temple.
